An 18 year old Eagle Mountain man was flown to IMC after he was stabbed by his younger brother. The brother stabbed him when the 18 year old was assaulting their 14 year old sister.
On September 5, 2017, at about 3:20 PM, Deputies with the Utah County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a report of an accidental stabbing at a home near Parkers Place and Cattle Drive in Eagle Mountain. When they arrived they found an 18 year old man who had been stabbed five times in his arm, chest, and upper back. A LifeFlight medical helicopter responded and this victim was flown to Intermountain Medical Center in Murray. He was in critical condition at that time but it is reported that his injuries are not life threatening.
Detectives responded and learned that this incident occurred when the 18 year old, Steven Johnston, of Eagle Mountain, was arguing with his 14 year old sister and reportedly began to assault her. Steven's 16 year old brother attempted to intervene and stabbed Steven 5 times. Because of the circumstances, the 16 year old brother was arrested and booked into Slate Canyon Youth Detention in Provo on one count of aggravated assault, a second degree felony. Steven will be charged with one count of child abuse for the assault against his sister, a class A misdemeanor.
