A 41 year old West Mountain man has been arrested after a report of a woman being held against her will.
*** February 23, 2017, 11:15 AM-UPDATE ADDITIONAL CHARGES *** On February 21, 2017, after obtaining a search warrant, Detectives with the Utah County Sheriff's Office conducted a search of the home at 8603 South 5600 West. On February 22 Detectives also interviewed the victim in the case against Nicholas Charles Leippe. We will not divulge exactly what the nature of the relationship was between Leippe and the victim except to say that he had, in the past, been in a position of special trust to the victim when she was a juvenile and that she had lived in his home. When she went there on February 20 to pick up some personal belongings Leippe would not let her leave. Later that evening Leippe gave alcohol to the victim to the point where she could not function to defend herself. At that point Leippe forced the victim to a bedroom where he removed her clothes, bound her hands and feet, and tied her to the headboard of a bed in that room. While the victim was bound on the bed Leippe raped her at least two times, sodomized her, and choked her. The victim told Detectives that when Deputies arrived and knocked repeatedly on the door Leippe began to hide evidence. During the search of the home Detectives found evidence to support the victim's assertion that she was bound, assaulted, and raped repeatedly. The victim sustained significant injuries from the rapes, assault, and from being bound for an extended period of time. When she was taken from the home by victim advocates she had difficulty walking.
In addition to the original charge of aggravated kidnapping, a 1st degree felony, Detectives have now booked Leippe on additional charges, including 2 counts of Rape, a 1st degree felony; forcible sodomy, a 1st degree felony; tampering with evidence, a 2nd degree felony; aggravated assault-domestic violence, a 3rd degree felony; and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, a class B misdemeanor.
***** UPDATE, 2/21/17, 4:34 PM. ***** The suspect in this case is Nicholas Charles Leippe, age 41, of West Mountain, west of Payson. Leippe has been booked into jail on one first degree felony count of aggravated kidnapping. The investigation in this case remains active and there will be additional charges against Leippe in the coming days.
On February 21, 2017, at about 1045, Deputies with the Utah County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a report of an 18 year old woman being held against her will in a home in the West Mountain area west of Payson. The suspect, a 41 year old Payson man, was reportedly at his home in West Mountain and was holding the 18 year old woman there. When Deputies arrived they tried to get someone to come to the door but got no response. Deputies developed information that led them to believe that the suspect and the victim were inside the home. After holding security on the home, Deputies made entry a little after 1230. The suspect was found inside the home. He cooperated with Deputies and was taken into custody. The 18 year old victim was also found in the home and was evaluated by medical personnel. She appears to have sustained injuries during this incident but they are not life threatening. More information, including criminal charges, will be released as the investigation continues.
