The Deputy who shot a Lake Shore man after that man charged him while holding a knife is named.

As reported on April 30, 2016, a Deputy with the Utah County Sheriff's Office was involved in a foot pursuit with a man known to have a felony warrant for his arrest. During the course of that foot pursuit, Daniel Mark Bess, a 33 year old man from Lake Shore, faced the Deputy while holding a knife. Bess refused to comply with the Deputy's orders to drop the knife. Instead, he charged the Deputy. The Deputy fired two shots at Bess, killing him. The Deputy, Sean Peterson, began his work with the Utah County Sheriff's Office in October 2005 as a volunteer member of the Search and Rescue team. In February 2007 he was hired as a Corrections Specialist and worked in the jail. In February 2011 Deputy Peterson was promoted and assigned as a Deputy in the Patrol Division where he has worked as an Animal Control Officer and in his current assignment as a patrol Deputy.
