A 40 year old American Fork man was hiking in the area above Dry Creek Trailhead, near Alpine, and called for Search and Rescue after he was stranded.
On December 11, 2014, at about 4:45 PM Deputies with the Utah County Sheriff's Office were dispatched to a report of a man stuck on the mountain above Alpine in Utah County. The 40 year old man from American Fork was hiking and came to an area where there was a 30 foot drop off and a very steep slope the other direction with loose dirt and rocks. He felt his safest option was to stay where he was and was for Search and Rescue to help him down. The Utah County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue (SAR) team responded to the area. SAR members were able to reach the man and help him down without incident. The man had no food or water, no climbing equipment, and no clothing appropriate for the weather. He was uninjured in this incident and was brought off the mountain just after 7:00 PM.
