Grants focus on projects to help teens in preparation for driver's education programs

The Utah County Injury Prevention Program will have up to $750 of community injury prevention funding available through the distribution of materials, equipment, and/or supplies purchased in bulk by the Utah County Health Department for projects that qualify. We have developed a presentation with the help of Zero Fatalities tailored for teens and their parents in preparation for the driver's education program.

According to the children's Hospital of Philadelphia, teens whose parents are involved in their driving and training are twice as likely to wear seat belts, 70 percent less likely to drink and drive, half as likely to speed, and 30 percent less likely to talk on a cell phone while driving. We are providing this mini-grant in order to educate these teens and their parents.

Please plan your proposal to include a parent involvement night with teens in Utah County who are expected to attend a driver's education course in the next calendar year (by June 2015). Mini-grants will be awarded based on the strength of the proposed project/activity and availability of funds. The event needs to take place between the dates of Feb 24th - April 1st 2014.

Application and proposal forms are below. If you have any questions please call Carrie Bennett at 801-851-7035.
