Class -- Saturday, Dec 7th

December 2nd to 8th is Older Driver Safety Awareness Week. Senior drivers -- although more experienced -- can face other challenges on the road due to slowing reflexes, influences of medications, reduced mobility and eyesight, and other conditions due to age.

The Utah County Health Department and the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) are promoting a Defensive Driving Course on Saturday, December 7th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Orem Community Hospital (527 W 400 N). Enrollees receive two manuals and certification of completion. Benefits of the course include improved driving skills, lower risk of car crashes, and improved confidence behind the wheel. Some insurance companies also offer discounts on premiums with successful completion of defensive driving courses (see your individual agent for details). The course is $12 for AARP members or $14 for nonmembers. Registration required. For questions and registration, please call Norman Tong at 801-765-1744.
