Family safe after encounter with Micro Burst

Father and Son from Taylorsville were boating in Utah Lake when a Micro Burst swept through Utah County. Guy Webb and his 8 year old boy were blown to shore near Saratoga Springs.

On Saturday, June 1, 2002 Guy Webb, his 8 year old son and father-in-law Loyd Falkner were cat fishing on Utah Lake. They started from American Fork Boat Harbor in their boat and at approximately 3:30 P.M. a Micro Burst hit Utah County. Guy and his family were blown to shore near Saratoga Springs. They said that the waves were going over the side of their boat and they finaly ended up near shore where they experienced problems with the motor. According to Guy Webb, the motor overheated in the mud. They attempted to call 911 but was unable to get cell service. At approximately 11:30 P.M. the Utah County Sheriff's Office received a call from a concerned family member. The Utah County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue responded along with State Parks . At approximately 01:30 A.M. on June 2, 2002 Lt. Dave Bennet, a pilot with the Sheriff's Office, observed the boat near Saratoga along the shore line. Search and Rescue assisted the Webb family back to the American Fork Boat Harbor. There were no injuries. Thirty volunteers and Police Personnel assisted in the search. Search and Rescue had 5 Waverunners and 5 boats in the water looking for the family. Guy Webb and his son are from Taylorsville, Utah and his father-in-law is from Taylor, Nebraska. Sgt.
